In a packed house "Manick Sorcar Animation Festival"was held at the 19th North American Bengali Conference, Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, California. The program was held on July 3, 1999. Four of Sorcar's internationally award winning classic animation were screened: "Deepa & Rupa: A Fairy Tale From India", winner of the old Plaque at the Chicago International Film Festival; "The Sage and The Mouse", the winner of the Gold Medal at the International Film Festival of New York; "Gandhabichar (Sniff)", the winner of the coveted C.I.N.E. Golden Eagle, and the recently released "The Woodcutter's Daughter", winner of the nomination for Best Children's Program category at the New York Festivals.

A question and answer session was held after the screening where Sorcar discussed the many techniques of animation with a delightful audience half of which were children.
